May 2008
The endless Washington DC to Seattle Washington flight is not my favorite.

– explanation for the confetti dropped over Coachella during Roger Waters’s set: “Pro-Obama fliers fell from above” [Desert Sun]
So many coachella refugees at LAX. Time to take off the wristbands, kids.
Pyrotechnics for Roger Waters! / this many people like Roger Waters? Justice please.
Holy shit! Let’s put away those Band of Horses comparisons, My Morning Jacket are the real deal.
Hello Shout Out Louds, you are my new bandcrush.
coachella.lights →
Aside from last night’s Animal Collective set, these lights were my favorite thing at Coachella on Saturday. So pretty and soothing! (some other coachella related posting activities can be found on la.metblogs.com and probably annoying regular updates on twittr).
Even Prince has hype men. Also, um, I am at a Prince show.
Just as grumpchella was setting in Animal Collective play a Panda Bear “cover”.
Hey Coachella, its impossible to get within 20 yards of the MIA tent. Maybe its time to reevaluate what goes on the mainstage?
oh Death Cab, I still like you but you really aren’t the massive outdoor stage sort of band. A for effort.
MGMT = hipster electromagnet
People are actually screaming for Jack Johnson.
The Raconteurs are a huge rock band. And improbably 83 degrees feels cool.
Come on Black Kids, how about not teaching our girlfriends how to dance with us already?

did you know that there’s a spot inside the showbox where even in the midst of a sold-out dancing crowd it feels like you’re standing at the gate to alaska?
reality bites →
Is anyone watching the Paper? I caught a re-run this afternoon. Although I never watched the Hills (and only watched enough of Laguna Beach to figure out that it wasn’t a brilliant faux-reality meta-commentary on the O.C.), I think that maybe the Paper is what those shows would be if instead of vapid socal teens they were about ambitious super nerdy yet passably telegenic kids who lust...
I think that this new Mount Eerie record might just have a pop song on it.

It’s winter in Seattle again. Again, because there was a day of summer last weekend, but I spent that day inside the EMP listening to academics and critics talk about music and watching Blue Scholars…

why? →
After happy hour macaroni at Smith with the ‘bloggers, went down to the Vera Project to see Mount Eerie (and get his new record). I stayed for Why?, and was thoroughly impressed. (a little more typing, [metblogs])
rock lottery →
Went to the Rock Lottery Sunday night and was amazed to see what a random assortment of musicians were able to come up with in twelve hours. Some of these bands were better than groups that have been together for years! I left a bit early out of tiredness and hunger. (Why aren’t more kitchens open past midnight? And what happened to that wonderful falafel truck?)
