finally, a facebook meme I can support. nexus.ludios.net. Or, why I sometimes find it agonizing to process facebook requests.

Growing a new hand is hard. Or rather, I’d imagine it would be from the lengthy recovery process of my random post-party sidewalk-midjudging trip-and-fall palm gouging a week and a half ago. The fake plastic skin bandage is nice, but ordinary activities like fetching keys from my pocket provide regular reminders of my clumsiness. And I am a whiny baby.
Other things from the previous week:...

goes from hilarious to horrifying in no time flat: “Earlier this week, the 7-year-old was startled to find an angry, silver-haired woman named Barbara in the Map Room, and on Monday, the first daughter saw what appeared to be former attorney general John Ashcroft lying naked and unconscious in a bathroom tub.”

Enforcing Manners, Tumblr Shuts Down 5 Blogs [NYT] →
I didn’t get a chance to read this during the pre-restoration phase of tumblrgate. The most remarkable part of the article is how almost all of the links in the NYT blog post point to other sources. Contrast this level of usefulness with the weird links in most NYT articles that point to internal NYT “topic pages”.
time's twenty five best blogs
in case you’d rather twenty-five pageviews to the best blogs instead of the exhausting “slideshow” index [time] (I know that times are tough, but is this really the future?): Talking Points Memo :: Huffington Post :: Lifehacker :: MeFi :: Andrew Sullivan ::The Freakonomics blog :: BoingBoing :: Got2BeGreen :: Zen Habits :: Paul Krugman :: Crooks and Liars :: Generacion...

tumblr disappearings explained
staff:
… after serious consideration, we recently decided that accounts with the explicit purpose of reblogging content in a derogatory way are a detriment to our community. … Your content and freedom of expression are the reasons we’re building Tumblr.

snoqualmie falls →
My mother and her friend have been in town for the weekend; so it’s been kind of touristy in here. Saturday was a little drive out to Snoqualmie Falls (close, pretty, and Twin Peaksy) and having a look at the Olympic Sculpture Park. On Sunday we milled around the Sunday Market in Fremont followed by a raid of Theo’s Chocolate, watched some sailboats going through the Locks, a driveby...
I’ve long ago given up on any idea of the Cha Cha as some kind of punk...
– Eric Grandy, about the Cha Cha, a show there, and some people in the crowd. [lineout] In or out of context I think that the “like this” at the end could have multiple interpretations depending on your POV.
There was a time when it was cool to be on Facebook. That time has passed.

BSG not-really spoiler →
YOU GUYS! HODGMAN WAS ON BATTLESTAR GALACTICA TONIGHT. ZOMG. I actually need to re-watch it because they explained almost everything in this episode, but my mom is visiting and I couldn’t watch every single second with the appropriate level of attention.

So far, though, he’s only built jokes.

why not smile?
At the very end of a Law & Order rerun tonight centering around some sort of Russian human trafficking familial vengeance case, in the great DickWolf tradition of jarring nonsequitur character revelations we shockingly learn McCoy has a daughter and is capable of smiling.
I’m pretty sure that this is never ever mentioned again.
