More Songs About Feelings and Women →
A longish rambly profile of Stuart Murdoch on the occasion of the God Help the Girl album. There are some interesting bits in there, and of course I lapped them up, but mostly it made me think that the saddest part of the “death of print” phase is probably the waning influence of good editors.

Two things about this movie: (1) if Zooey Deschanel didn’t already exist, I’m pretty sure Disney would have created her; (2) in defense of (500) Days of Summer and its overcute preview, I will say that the actual movie openly acknowledges, and is almost built upon the fact that stable relationships aren’t built off shared affection for the Smiths.

distorte: I check into my room later than expected, half elevenish, so there’s no time to meet anyone. I drop my bag and leave again, book underarm, to have a quick beer and some croquettes before bed. My hotel is just off Gran Via so I head down towards a bar I know. At a pedestrian crossing an exceptionally beautiful black girl draws up beside me and says something. I deploy my usual: “No habla...

catbird: You know when you’re at a mall? That overhead map kiosk thing? Is there a website/service that works that way for cities? I mean, Google Maps and Yelp and all that are great if you’re looking for something specific, but I want to be able to say, “I’m at 55th and 3rd— what are all the businesses that are within “n” square blocks of me?” this sort of works with google maps on iPhone...

The Summertime Clothes 12″ (ft. the track + 3 remixes) is out 7/7 … I liked this album plenty when it came out this winter, but now that the temperatures are climbing, certain parts of it make so much more sense.
