The artistic pedigree for the current series of Levi’s commercials explains why the films are so outstanding: directed by Cary Fukunaga, still photography by Ryan McGinley (who also shot the SIgur Ros album), sound clips from Owen Pallet / Final Fantasy, and conceived by Wieden+Kennedy (who also did maybe the most beautiful commercial of all time — Nike’s 2002 Winter Olympics campaign [youtube]). Oh, and Walt Whitman likely spinning in his grave as he reads his own poem via wax cylinders. (via slate, who describes them as stylish music videos were set to classic poetry).
