Gawker used to be about 12 posts a day, and you could scroll through on one page and catch up. It was the key aggregator for what you needed, plus they had original stuff. There has been a dilution of content away from the need to know more to the titillation, voyeuristic material, a lot of focus on their Gawker celebrities that they puff up themselves.
