David Remnick talks to Rachel Sklar about this week’s cover:
The idea that we would publish a cover saying these things literally, I think, is just not in the vocabulary of what we do and who we are. [huffpost]
I think the whole thing is becoming meta-funny, with the people who should have gotten the joke getting the most ruffled because they’re trying to imagine what the “non-elites” or “conspiracists” will think of the cover, not realizing that every time they try to get inside other people’s heads they get it terribly wrong. 
Although really, this delicate flower stuff from Obamaniacs is hardly surprising.
